Marion-Kenneth Ray Porter, 74, of Marion, passed away at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 5, 2011 at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Funeral service will held at 1:00 PM on Friday, April 8, 2011 at Community of Christ Church in Marion with Priest David Rix & Elder Gordon Lambert officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday at the Church from 11:00 AM until service time. Burial will be Webb Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Kenneth was born on July 19, 1936 in Johnston City to Sim Burton & Grace (Swift) Porter. He married Janice Fox on Saturday, October 31, 1964 in Benton, IL; together they had two children.
He is survived by his loving wife, Janice; daughter, Elizabeth O’Connor of Marion; son, Kenneth Ray & Dena Porter, Jr. of Hurst; grandchildren, Robyn Childres and Steven O’Connor both of Marion and Emma Porter of Hurst; great-granddaughter, Ariel Francis of Marion; sister, Doris Malone of Johnston City; sisters-in-law, Marge Porter of Round Lake Beach and Sonja Fleming of Marion; several nieces & nephews and several great-nieces & great-nephews.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents and 16 siblings, Violet, James Walker, Beatrice, Mabel, Imogene, Ruthie, Maggie, Simmie, Evelyn, Irene, Bonnie, Clarence, Genice, James, John, and Richard.
He was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Marion. He will be greatly missed by family and friends.
