Dennis E. Poland, 83, of Marion passed away at 11:01 AM on Sunday, July 15, 2012 at Heartland Regional Medical Center
Funeral services will be at Noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 in Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverends Don Colson & John Moffit officiating. A time of gathering for family and friends will precede the funeral service starting at 10:00 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959.
Dennis was born in Ramsey, IL on Wednesday, April 3, 1929 to Clarence & Minnie (Davis) Poland. He married Norma J. Poland on Monday, July 2, 1979 in Vienna; she preceded him on Tuesday, June 6, 2000. He later married Elaine Odum and she survives of Marion.
Mr. Poland is survived by his wife, Elaine; children, Sherry & Harold Robbins, Kathy & Kurtis Alexander, John & Angela Poland, Linda Fann and Carl Poland; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren & two great-great-grandchildren and his poodle, Bubbles.
Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence & Minnie; wife, Norma; sons, Jim Poland & Mike Poland; one brother and two sisters.
Mr. Poland is a veteran of the United States Army, having served in the Korean Conflict and Germany. He attended Community of Faith Christian Church, and was a retiree from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale Agricultural Department.
