Alma L. McKinney

Alma L. McKinney, age 96, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away Sunday, March 6, 2023 at Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion, Illinois.

Alma was born June 02, 1926 in Zeigler, Illinois, a daughter of Roy and Fanny (Sanders)  Cardwell.  She married Lloyd "Mac" McKinney on January 18, 1946 in St. Louis, MO.  Alma retired from the Marion Unit 2 Schools as a cook.  She and her husband enjoyed camping and she found pleasure in cooking and baking.  She was a follower of St. Louis Cardinals Baseball, listening to Gospel Hymns and spending time with her family.  She was a member of First Church of God in Marion, IL and loved her church and her church family.  

She is survived by her daughter, Marilyn J. (Larry) Throgmorton of Marion, IL and son-in-law Bill Holmes of Marion, IL; three grandchildren, Angie (Jeff) Rushing, Matt (Cindy) Throgmorton, and Michael (Jen) Throgmorton; and seven great-grandchildren, Bethany Throgmorton, Hunter Throgmorton, Colton Throgmorton, Brylee Throgmorton, Abigail Rushing, Noah Throgmorton, and Eli Throgmorton.  She is preceded in death by her husband Lloyd "Mac" McKinney; three daughters, Marsha Holmes, Judy McKinney, and Nancy McKinney; her parents, Roy and Fanny Cardwell; and one sister, Mabel Smith.

Visitation will be Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home. Funeral Service will be held Tuesday, March 14, 2023, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Mike Ebert and Rev. Roy Pepmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Freedom Cemetery south of Marion.
