Bill Tanner

Marion-Bill Tanner, 81, passed away on Saturday, September 15, 2018 at his home. Bill was born on August 17, 1937 in Williamson County to Carl and Marie (Boyd) Tanner. He married Phyllis Clarida on April 20, 1962 in Marion. Bill was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA. He enjoyed farming and taking care of cattle.  Bill was of Christian faith and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors: Wife-Phyllis Tanner of Marion Brothers-Kenneth Tanner and his wife Marilyn of Stonefort and James Earl Tanner Nieces and nephews-Deborah Hunter; Brian and Joann Tanner; Carlos and Ellen Tanner and James Wayne and Melissa Tanner He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Betty Marie Tanner Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Ivan Ryan officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Tuesday from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to New Burnside Community Church and will be accepted at the funeral home.
