Charles Roy (Chuck) Cohoon was born on December 8, 1926, in Truman, Arkansas to George and Ida (Waldon) Cohoon. He passed away at home on Friday, November 18, 2022 at the age of 95 years, 11 months, and 10 days. He was a patient of Residential Hospice and Interim Health Care.
He retired from the Veteran's Administration in Marion, Illinois serving as Foreman of Maintenance and Operations in Engineering Service. Chuck was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Missouri Synod and helped build the present structure and stained the inside wood. He was an avid golfer, bowler, fisherman, gardener, coin collector, wine maker, knife collector, tool collector, and a Cardinal baseball fan. He served in the Navy during World War II. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his wife and family.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Wanda, of 41 years, four daughters- Charlotte Reed, Judy Gallagher, Jeanne Marsh, and Susan (Gary) Fowler; two sons- Mark Shoukletovich and Shawn (Toni Leigh) Shoukletovich; ten granddaughters- Stephanie Cable, Amanda Adams, Alexandra Snow, Jessica (Doug) Corzine, Karon Fowler, Kristen Fowler, Mallory (Nick) Marzano, Madison Shoukletovich, Brittani Shoukletovich, and Brianna (Anthony) Herr; three grandsons- Steven Cox, Eric Adams, and Benjamin Snow; and ten great grandchildren- Megan Cox, Mason Cox, Zach Cable, Ethan Cable, Riley Snow, Cassie Corzine, Cameran Corzine, Luke Shoukletovich, Chandon Henning, and Ava Adams. He is also survived by several loving nieces and nephews.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, daughter- Patricia Cohoon, parents-in-law, four brothers and two sisters.
Services will be at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1801 Westminster Drive in Marion, on Wednesday November 23, 2022 with visitation at 10:00am and funeral service at 11:00am. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Pastor Mark Surburg will officiate. Military rites will be provided by the Marion American Legion and VFW Posts with assistance from the United State Navy ritual team. Pallbearers will be Gary Fowler, Mark Shoukletovich, Shawn Shoukletovich, Steven Cox, Douglas Corzine, Jimmy Andrews, Jayson Will, and Aaron Henderson. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to The Volunteer Services at the Marion VA Hospital (nka The Center for Development and Civic Engagement) or Pregnancy Matter.
