Darlene C. Wiseman, age 83, of Marion, Illinois, passed away Sunday, July 17, 2022 at Memorial Hospital in Carbondale, Illinois.
Darlene was born September 10, 1938 in Creal Springs, Illinois, a daughter of Roland and Olive (Malroy) Morphis. Darlene married Robert “Bob” Wiseman on March 20, 1957. By July of 1963, she and Bob had five children and in August, 1968, they welcomed one more.
Darlene’s love of children knew no bounds. In addition to her own six children, her home was filled with countless beloved nieces and nephews throughout the years as well. She became a grandmother for the first time at the age of 40 and was proud to be known as “Granny” from that day forward. She was a constant in the lives of her 15 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren and her home was their favorite place to be with all their cousins. She made each and every one of them feel special to her, because they were.
Always described as beautiful, Darlene was so much more. In her strength, determination and perseverance, she was a beautiful force to be reckoned with. Her indomitable spirit could not be dampened by life’s trials and tragedies. Footprints in the Sand was posted prominently in her home. The loss of her precious, young daughter was born by her realization that Jesus had indeed carried her through that unimaginable grief and anguish.
Her compassion, generosity and thoughtfulness of others was always apparent. She always “showed up” for the people in her life - weddings, baby showers, graduations or funerals, she was always there for others.
We are brokenhearted at the loss of our mom and Granny. She was a natural-born, irreplaceable, loving matriarch and her absence in our lives seems unbearable. But we commit her to the arms of her savior and are eternally grateful for God’s loving kindness in allowing us all to be the love of her life.
She is survived by five children, Tim B. (Rhonda) Wiseman of Marion, IL, Tina D. Harrell of Carterville, IL, Toni L. (Steve) Bleyer of Carterville, IL, Traci L. Wiseman of Crab Orchard, IL, and Tabatha K. (Jeff) Mayer of Marion, IL; fifteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Salat of La Porte, IN. She is preceded in death by her former husband Robert D. Wiseman; one daughter, Tammy J. Wiseman; and her parents, Roland and Olive Morphis.
Per her wishes, private funeral services will be held at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion, Illinois, with burial to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Blue Funeral Home in Marion, Illinois will assist with receiving these donations.
