David Alan Bittikofer, age 73 of Marion, Illinois passed away Monday, July 31, 2023 at Deaconess Hospital in Henderson, Kentucky.
David was born August 11, 1949 in Greenville, Pennsylvania, a son of Luis and Shirley (Carr) Bittikofer. David grew up in Florida and Nashville, TN. He joined the US Marine Corps, serving in Vietnam from 1968-1970. David worked several jobs but gained full disability from the VA due to service. He married Judith K. Towles on April 22, 2002 in Las Vegas, NV. He loved metal detecting, to sing karaoke and watch NASCAR. He was a member of the Marion VFW, past commander of the Marion American Legion Post 147, Southern IL Metal Detecting Assoc. and Harbor Church.
He is survived by his wife Judith K. Bittikofer of Marion, IL; three children, son, David A. Bittikofer Jr of Nashville, TN, stepson, John P. (Jhona) Smith of El Paso, TX, and stepdaughter Bonnie (Mike) Elwood of North Porte, AL; ten grandchildren, Peyton Bittikofer, Sydney Bittikofer, Zane Bittikofer, Luis Grey, Paris Smith, Savannah Smith, Samantha Smith, Richard (Jesse) Hatfield Jr, Amber Hatfield and Darren Stacy; three great-grandchildren, Hudson Hatfield, Hazel Hatfield, and Jensen Griffith; six siblings, Jerry Bittikofer, Thomas (Judy) Bittikofer, Bruce (Barbara) Bittikofer, Brian (Jim) Bittikofer, Toni (Ray) Hurst, and Laure Goetl; many nieces and nephews and his support dog Ollie. He is preceded in death by his parents, Luis and Shirley Bittikofer.
Visitation will be Thursday, August 3rd, 2023 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Blue funeral home. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 3, 2023, 7:00 PM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. David Thompson officiating. Military Honors will be offered following the funeral.
