Dennis Whitehead

Harrisburg-Dennis Whitehead, 63, passed away on August 7, 2017 at his home. Dennis was born on November 18, 1953 in Williamson County to Leo and Arlene (Singleton) Whitehead. He married Kim Cross on June 1, 1997 in Raleigh. Dennis served in the U.S. Army for 30 years, serving in Afghanistan Operation Enduring Freedom. He worked as a correctional officer at Shawnee for 22 years. Dennis loved to hike in the mountains, enjoyed the beach and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include: Wife-Kim Whitehead of Harrisburg Sons-Dustin Whitehead of Marion and David (Rachael) Whitehead of Marion Daughters-Brandi Cross of Harrisburg, Ashley Owen of Marion and Lynsey (Jaime) Ellis of Harrisburg Grandchildren: Kaitlyn Cross Landen Whitehead London Whitehead Amarian Owen Laila Whitehead Jaxon Owen Maddison Ellis Olivia Whitehead Kaydence Ellis Father-Leo "Jim" Whitehead of Marion Brothers and sisters: Cheryl (Jerry) Riepshoff of Marion LeeAnn (Barry) Steed of Eldorado Leo (Delinda) Whitehead of Marion Clint Whitehead of Marion Denise (David) Norris He was preceded in death by his mother and sister, Gayla Marshall. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jeff Rush officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, August 10 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home. For those who prefer, memorial donations may be made to Little Chapel Hanger 10 or Little Chapel Building Fund.
