Donald Irwin

Marion-Donald Christopher Irwin, 50, passed away at 7:30am on Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home. Don was born on October 16, 1965 in Litchfield, IL to Gary Paul Irwin and Mary Jane (Walch) Irwin.  He married Karen Irene Stirewalt at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Benton on March 9, 1991. She survives of Marion. Don was a co-owner of P & I Builders with B.J. Pettigrew. He was 4^thDegree Knights of Columbus.  Don was in the Special Forces in the US Army where he was a hand grenade specialist, parachutist, rifle sharp shooter and received the Good Conduct Medal.  He enjoyed fishing and was an avid hunter.  Don was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include: Wife-Karen Irwin of Marion Sons-Zachary Paul Irwin and fiancé Samantha Harbison of Marion and Dustin Cole Irwin and wife Samantha of Marion Grandson-Cooper Donald Irwin Father-Gary Paul Irwin and wife Joan of Rushville, IL Mother-Mary Jane McVey and husband Don of Florida Brother-Jeff Irwin and his children Alexa, Brock and Clay Brother-Paul Irwin and wife Denise and their child Sydney Sister-Carrie Grob and husband Ted and their children Annie and Rosie Grandmother-Eileen Walch of Raymond, IL He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Paul Lester and Ferne L. Irwin; grandfather, Willis Michael Walch and brother, Maurice Lee Irwin Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, January 16, 2016 at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Monsignor Thomas Flach officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Military Rites will be performed by the Marion VFW with assistance from the National Guard.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 15, 2016 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home with the Knights of Columbus Rites being performed at approximately 8pm.
