Dorotha A. Lang

Marion – Dorotha A. Lang, age 92, of Marion, IL, passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2019 at 11:08 p.m. in Parkway Manor, Marion.

Dorotha was born on August 21, 1927 in Golconda, IL, a daughter of Arlie and Lela Cloe (Robinson) Stephens.  She first worked as a switchboard operator at the Marion Telephone Company where she met James Irvin Lang. They were married on May 21, 1949 in the Morganfield Baptist Church, Morganfield, KY, and together they shared sixty-six years of marriage.  He preceded her in death on July 17, 2015.  After working for the telephone company, Dorotha worked as the manager for the Williamson County Credit Bureau, as well as other jobs in the community, but she took great pride in being a homemaker and enjoyed gardening, canning and crafting.  Dorotha had the heart of a servant and was a hospitable woman.  She was an active member of First Baptist Church, Marion and dearly loved spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her three sons, James Stephen Lang, Jeffrey Irvin Lang and Eric Von Lang, all of Marion; her daughter, Lisa (Greg) Coutts of Oak Forest, IL; three sisters, Essie Usherwood, Elsie Winchell and Shirley (Keith) Williams; her sister-in-law, Betty Stephens; her three grandchildren, Matthew Lang, Courtney Coutts and Colin (Brooke) Coutts; one great-grandson, Landon Coutts; and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Dorotha was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James Irvin Lang; one sister, Lena Marie Hunter; and one brother, Sidney Merle Stephens.

A memorial service will be held at Blue Funeral Home, Marion, IL on Monday, December 16, 2019 at 11:30 a.m. with Dr. Bob Dickerson officiating.

Visitation will be held at Blue Funeral Home on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.

Memorial donations may be made to the Disabled American Veterans and will be accepted at the funeral home.
