Dorris Jean Odum

Dorris J. Odum, age 82, of rural Creal Springs, Illinois, passed away Friday, October 21, 2022 at Harrisburg Medical Center in Harrisburg, Illinois.

Dorris was born April 01, 1940 in Williamson County, Illinois, a daughter of Paul and Jewell (McGuire) Tanner. Dorris grew up on the family farm and attended Crab Orchard school. She married Dewey E. Odum on March 06, 1959 in Marion, IL. She was a stay at home mom raising her children. Later in life she had worked at Diagraph Bradley, Williamson County Courthouse as Deputy County Clerk and at Creal Springs Nursing Home.

Dorris loved camping with family and friends, especially with Charles and Imogene Brush, crocheting, preparing family dinners and following her grandchildren's events. She was a member of Walnut Hill Freewill Baptist Church south of Crab Orchard, Illinois.

She is survived by her husband, Dewey E. Odum, two daughters, Kimberly J. White (partner Jeff Mitchell) of Johnston City, IL and Kristi J. Rix (partner Terry Schell) of Creal Springs, IL; six grandchildren, Karrie J. (Kevin) Harris, James R. (Amy) Clarida, Austin L. Groves, Thomas M. Clarida, Tyler E. Rix, Trevor R. (Charli Jo Orr) Rix; four great-grandchildren, Haley J. Harris, Hunter L. Harris, Zoey Clarida and Kasen Clarida; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Jewell Tanner; three siblings, Terry Tanner, JoAnne Emery, and Calvin Glenn Jr.; and her special friends, Charles And Imogene Brush.

Visitation will be Tuesday, October 25th, 2022 from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home. Funeral Service will follow on Tuesday, October 25, 2022, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Burns officiating. Private burial will be held at Shed Cemetery in Crab Orchard.
