Eddie Mitchell

Marion-Eddie “Sidekick” Mitchell, 65, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 at his home. Eddie was born on August 19, 1953 in Saline County to Edward and Barbara (Lucas) Mitchell. He married Carol Bell on September 22, 1990 in Paulton. Eddie loved the outdoors. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, shooting his guns, arrowhead hunting, driving in the countryside and camping. Survivors include: Wife-Carol Mitchell of Marion Son-Shawn Mitchell of Goreville Grandson-Levi Mitchell of Goreville Brothers-Rocky and Leanne Mitchell of Marion and Jerry Lee Mitchell of Marion Sisters-Vicki and Wayne Morgan and Jan and Steve McMichael of WV Several nieces, nephews and family He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Debbie McCombs. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 1pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Michael Tetmeyer officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Ridge Cemetery in Pope County.  Military Rites will be performed by the Vienna VFW with assistance from the U.S. Navy.  Visitation will be on Thursday from 11am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
