Edward L. "Ed" Partak

Energy- Edward L. “Ed” Partak, 87, of Energy, formerly of Joliet, passed away at 5:23 PM, Friday, June 5, 2015 at Helia Healthcare in Energy.  Ed was born on August 28, 1927 in Joliet, IL to Joseph and Anna Marie (Bosok) Partak.    He served his country bravely while stationed in Germany and France during WWII.  Once honorably discharged from the US Army, he returned home and began a long career as a steel worker for US Steel.    Ed worked the loading docks at US Steel in Joliet for forty two years, until his retirement in 1975.   He was catholic and a longtime member of St. Syros Catholic Church in Joliet.  He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion.  In his spare time he enjoyed volunteering with the Veterans Administration and spending time with his family.   He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Moose Lodge in Joliet. Survivors include-   Son- Michael Partak and wife Darlene of Johnston City Daughter- Sue Williams and husband Keith of Benton Son- Jerry Partak of Benton Granddaughter- Marilyn Boles and husband Michael of Benton Grandson- Paul William Hawkins and wife Jodi of Marion Three great grandsons- Nick, Luke and Daniel Boles  He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters and brothers.  A private funeral service will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.  Monsignor Ken Schaefer will officiate.  Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Marion.  Military rites will be performed at graveside by the Marion VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the Illinois National Guard.  A private visitation will be held at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Marion Ministerial Alliance and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N.
