Edward Lee Dwyer, age 65, of Marion, Illinois,  passed away Saturday, December 23, 2023 at his home in Marion, Illinois, surrounded by family.

Edward was born August 23, 1958 in Marion, Illinois, a son of James A. and Doris M. (Gray)  Dwyer.  Ed grew up in Marion and attended Marion Schools.  In June 1976 he joined the US Army and was honorably discharged in July 1979 with the rank E4.  He married the love of his life, Yolanda K. Hogue on October 06, 1976 in Marion, IL.  When he returned home from the service, he worked for Chicon Distributing and then Pepsi in Marion.  In 1980 he started working for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Marion, retiring in 2008.  In his retirement he worked for Clark Security at General Dynamics as a security Guard and was promoted to Security Chief in 2019.  He resigned in February 2023 due to health reasons.  He was a Master Mason with the Saline Masonic Lodge in Goreville for twenty five years and member of the Blue Knights Law Enforcement Motorcycle Club for fourteen years, acting as Treasurer since 2015. Edward was of the Baptist Faith, loved Harley Davidson Motorcycles, traveling and spending time with his family and grandchildren.    

He is survived by his wife Yolanda K. Dwyer of Marion, IL; two sons, James E. Dwyer of Peoria, IL and Travis L. (Vicki) Dwyer of West Frankfort, IL; seven grandchildren, Jordan (Abbey) Dwyer, Andrea (Jonah) Davis, Lezlie (Austin) McConnell, Kiersten Lawrence, Lee Bailey, Seth Bailey, and Dylan Lewis; two great-grandchildren, Reagan Lynn McConnell and Emmette Gibson; his father-in-law, Hank Priddy of Marion, IL; six siblings, Michael (Lori) Sneed of Platte City, MO, Anita (Joe) Frey of Marion, IL, Jim Dwyer of Marion, IL, Kelly Baker of Marion, IL; Brother-In-Laws Chuck (Deana) Hogue Jr. of Creal Springs, IL, and Sean (Kendra) Priddy of Mascoutah, IL; and his many nieces & nephews, and, great nieces & nephews;  former daughter-in-laws Brandy Dwyer, and Cassi (Billy) Taylor.  He is preceded in death by his parents, James A. and Doris M. Dwyer; Brother Jeff Dwyer; and mother -in-law Yvonne Priddy. 

Visitation will be Thursday, December 28th, 2023 from 4:00 PM - 7:00 PM and on Friday, December 29th from 10 am - 11 am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.  Masonic services will be held at 7:00 PM on Thursday evening.   Funeral services will be held Friday, December 29, 2023, 11:00 AM at Blue Funeral Home with Rev. Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Burial will follow at White Oak Cemetery in Marion with full Military Honors. 

Memorial contributions may be directed to Residential Hospice or American Cancer Society .
