Eugene “Gene” L. Borum, age 77, of Creal Springs, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 9:05 a.m. at his home.
Gene was born on February 5, 1943 in Creal Springs to Laverne and Imogene (Adams) Borum. Gene became a member of the Carpenter’s Union Local #638 in 1964 and worked for nearly 40 years until his retirement. He enjoyed cooking and loved his fresh vegetables grown by himself from his very own garden. He was a true outdoorsman, as he loved to hunt and ride his four-wheeler around looking for deer tracks. He also enjoyed giving grandkids rides around in the woods, showing off his deer stand, which was more like a small “mancave.” His newest found hobby was camping with his new camping family. He was truly in his element on the camp site. Gene loved his family and loved to sing karaoke with friends and family. But most of all, he loved spending time with his brothers and had a bond like no other.
Survivors include his daughters, Dena (Tim) Gault of Carterville, Marti (Pete) Craig of Harrisburg and Tammi (Scott “Henry”) Herrick of Glendale, California; his significant other, Judy Pemberton of Marion; seven grandchildren, Halee (Kyle) Essick of Herrin, Heath (Whitney) Fugate of Florida, Courtney (Chris) Fogle of Ohio, Maddison (Justin) Maloney of Raleigh, Miller (Courtney) Craig of Marion, Chase (Shaina) Craig of Stonefort and Kirsten Herrick of California; eleven great-grandchildren, Logan, Evie, Amelia, Harper, Olivia, Carter, Casey, Carson, Kye, Payton and Knox; his sister, Shirley Johnson of Creal Springs; his brothers, Marvin (Vicky) Borum of Creal Springs and Ronnie (Peggy) Borum of Marion; loved-as-grandchildren, Savannah and Abby; his beloved dog, Brooke; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, neighbors and friends.
