Freda Yow

Vienna-Freda Elizabeth Mary Yow, 91, formerly of Carbondale, passed away at 10:47am on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Hillview Healthcare Center. Freda was born on March 20, 1925 in London, England to Fred and Elizabeth Mary (Hill) Bailey. She was a war bride and married Robert Yow.  He had a Mohawk when they met.  Robert preceded her in death in 1995. Freda was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Survivors include: Son-John and Kathy Yow of Carbondale Daughter-Barbara and Rick Gasser of Roseville, CA Son-Robert A. Yow of Goreville Daughter-Elizabeth Bullock of Goreville Grandchildren-Sonny Yow; Jason Gasser and Michelle McMurtry Great grandchildren-Kaivs McMurtry; Silas McMurtry and Philip Gasser Sisters-Lil O’Sullivan; Lou Hiden and Jane Rumbles She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son in law, Byron Bullock; brother, Tom Bailey and sister, Pat Fisher. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2016 at 2pm at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. George Calhoun officiating.  Burial will be at Mounds City National Cemetery.  Visitation will also be on Saturday from 1pm until the time of service at the funeral home.
