Garry "Super" Smith

Marion-Garry “Super” Smith, 74, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. Super was born on January 27, 1942 in Cairo to David and Beatrice (Holder) Smith.  He married Lois Jones in December 1967.  She preceded him in death in 1999. Super served in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during Vietnam.  He worked at Olin for 34 years.  Super loved sports, his favorite teams were Notre Dame and the Chicago Cubs.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, playing poker and gambling and especially spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include: Special friend-Linda Merril Daughter-Kimberly Mayers and husband William Son-Kevin Smith and wife Samantha Daughter-Krystal Mofield and husband Jeremy Grandchildren: Dustin Mezo Kody Smith Nicole Smith Wyatt Mayers Becca Mayers Gage Mofield Noah Mofield Libby Mayers Graycee Mofield 5 great granddaughters Brothers- Jerry Smith and Bobby Joe Smith and wife Barbara Several nieces and nephews He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Lois and brother, Gene Smith. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 21, 2016 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Steve Utley officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, October 20, 2016 from 6pm-8pm at the funeral home.
