Gilbert Eugene `Gibby` Holmes CREAL SPRINGS- Gilbert Eugene `Gibby` Holmes, 51, of Creal Springs passed away at 9:15 PM, Tuesday, September 6, 2005 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, September 9, 2005 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend Gary Holmes officiating. Visitation will from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Thursday, September 8, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery in Creal Springs. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society; envelopes are available at the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mr. Holmes was born on May 21, 1954 in Marion, Illinois to Douglas `Gib` and Katherine Louise (Stokes) Holmes. Survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Christy Holmes of Creal Springs; son and fiancee`, Dustin Holmes and Mollie Profitt of Valdosta, Georgia; granddaughter, Brianna Rose Holmes; his parents, Gib and Katherine of Creal Springs; brothers and sisters-in-law, Noble and Lori Holmes, Doug and Lisa Holmes, Jimmie and Marcy Holmes and Michael and Jeanie Holmes all of Creal Springs; sister and fiancee`, Vicky Pritchett and Doug Babb of Creal Springs; sister and brother-in-law, Lisa and Harry Simpson of Creal Springs; maternal grandmother, Violet Segers of Creal Springs; and a special friend and companion, Marilyn. He was preceded in death by son, Chad Andrew Holmes; brothers, Donnie and Randy Holmes; maternal grandfather, Nople Segers; and paternal grandparents, Douglas and Cordilla Holmes. Mr. Holmes was a member of Springhill Baptist Church in Creal Springs. He worked as a heavy equipment operator, transporting heavy equipment over the road.
