Grant Stanley

Mt. Vernon-Grant Stanley, 38, formerly of Goreville, passed away on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at DePaul Hospital in St. Louis.
Grant was born on December 14, 1976 in Carbondale to Charles and Irma (Burns) Stanley. He married Brandi Watts on May 5, 2007 at Walnut Hill Church in Crab Orchard. She survives of Mt. Vernon.
Grant attended the University of Illinois and graduated from SIU with a degree in forensic chemistry. He worked as an engineer for Union Pacific Railroad for over 10 years, starting in El Paso, TX. His hobbies included fishing and playing video games with his son Zane. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Guy Dennis Stanley and Eleanor Martin Stanley; his maternal grandparents, Lowell and Irmadel Burns and uncle, Roy Thomas Burns
Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 17, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Jerry Schell officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be on Friday, January 16, 2015 from 5pm-9pm at the funeral home.
Memorial donations are suggested to Brandi Stanley for an education fund for their children and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL 62959
