Helena J. Dorsey

Goreville-Helena J. Dorsey, 93, passed away at 12:55pm on Monday, October 19, 2015 at her home. Helena was born on January 20, 1922 in Jonesboro to Charles Ernest and Henrietta (Howe) Tweedy.  She married Melvin E. Dorsey on October 11, 1941 in Jackson, MO.  He preceded her in death on August 22, 1995. Helena’s hobbies included fishing, reading and working crossword puzzles.  She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Survivors include: Son-Stan Dorsey of Goreville Grandchildren: Jacqueline and Michael Cole of Dongola Tara and Alex Peas of Goreville Ginger and Heath Ditterline of Vienna Todd and Patty Dorsey of St. Charles, MO David Dorsey of Metropolis Tricia and Kevin Overall of Kenton, TN Kevin and Julie Dorsey of West Paducah, KY Steve Dorsey of Buncombe Greg Dorsey of Buncombe Dena and Loren Thomas of Vienna Great grandchildren-Kate, Erin, Matt, Amy, Kennedy, Kamden, Rylan, Noel, Chasey and Loren Sisters: Ava Ray of Anna Charity Swink of Nashville, TN Faith Harris of Noble, IL Brother-Steve and Roxanne Tweedy of Ocala, FL Daughters in law: Pat Dorsey of Metropolis Margaret Dorsey of Buncombe Several nieces and nephews Helena was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sons, Lonnie Dorsey and Denny Dorsey. Funeral services will be held on Friday, October 23, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. Michael Cole officiating.  Burial will follow at Jonesboro City Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Thursday, October 22, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the funeral home.
