Herbert Rowold

Carterville-Herbert Rowold, 62, passed away on Saturday, November 9, 2019 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale surrounded by his loved ones.

Herbert was born on November 22, 1956 in Red Bud to Herbert and Elsie (Wirth) Rowold.

Herbert was a Thrivent Financial Advisor.  He was an active and founding member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church.  Herbert was an avid Cardinals and Blues fan.  He enjoyed attending his children’s games and coaching and teaching them.  Herbert loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and watching movies and playing cards.

Son-Matthew Scott and Lynzee Rowold

Daughter-Kathryn Rowold and Jerry Don

Daughter-Michelle and Caleb Swink

Grandchildren-Adrina, Aurelia, Viola, Karolina, Charli and Colton

Sister-Sharon and Marvin Henke

Significant other-Julia Schrader

Aunt and uncle-Lucy and Jerry McElroy

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Shirley Rowold; aunts and uncles, Carol and Jim Tharp and Pauline and Elmer Prescher.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2019 at 12pm at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Marion with Pastor Mark Surburg officiating.  Burial will be at 2:30pm at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud.  Visitation will be on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the church.

Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements.

Memorials may be made to the family to help with funeral expenses and will be accepted at the funeral home or the church.
