James Hooten

August 15, 1924 — December 4, 2015

Marion-James L. Hooten, 91, passed away on Friday, December 4, 2015 at Heartland Regional Medical Center. James was born on August 15, 1924 in Ft. Madison, IA to James M. and Verine (Peterman) Hooten.  He married Letta Mae on October 19, 1946.  She preceded him in death on August 12, 2011. James was in the US Marine Corps and served in the South Pacific during WWII.  He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and will be missed by all. Survivors include: Children: Leanne Thompson and husband Ralph of Marion Dianne Segers and husband Greg of Marion Michael James Hooten and wife Monina of Marion Roxanne Powers and husband John of Apopka, FL Kimberly Bondzinski and husband Mark of Des Plaines Several grandchildren A plethora of great and great-great grandchildren James was preceded in death by his parents; wife; infant son, Leroy and brother, Robert. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, December 12, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Monsignor Kenneth Schaefer officiating. Military Rites will be performed by the Marion VFW with assistance from the US Marine Corps.  Burial will be at Springhill Cemetery. Visitation will also be on Saturday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
