Jared David Alinger MARION-Jared David Alinger, 16, of Marion passed away at 3:30 AM, Monday, June 27, 2005, southeast of Marion. Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at Cornerstone Community Church, ½ mile south of Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion with Reverend Eddie Pullen officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, June 29, 2005 at the church. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Memorials may be made to the Jared Alinger Memorial Academic Fund; envelopes will be available from the funeral home or may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Jared was born on October 5, 1988 in Decatur, Illinois to Eric C. and Julie R. (Rose) Alinger. Survivors include his parents; sister, Ashley Alinger; maternal grandparents, Larry and Sharon Rose of Argenta; aunts, Shelly Roberts and Vicki Rose; uncle, Hank Alinger; and several cousins. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Hank and Marilyn Alinger. Jared was a member of Cornerstone Community Church in Marion. He was active in his church helping with general maintenance and cleanup, and working the sound and computer for Sunday Services and Children`s Church. He attended Marion High School, where he had completed his sophomore year. At MHS he was one of two sophomores selected by teacher recommendation for the World Youth in Science and Engineering Academic Testing Competition. He was a member of the Rotary Youth Leadership Award Camp, in which he was nominated by a guidance counselor and selected by the Rotary Club, a member of the MHS Thinking Wildcats Scholar Bowl Team, and the MHS Cross Country and Track Teams. Because of Jared`s love for hunting and fishing, he was a volunteer with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service at Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge with 50 hours of service to date. He was also a volunteer umpire for Marion Youth Baseball and a member of the Marion Youth Baseball Colt League Team.
