John Niemeyer

Marion-John “Newt” Niemeyer, 57, passed away on Monday, January 4, 2016 at his home. John was born on September 24, 1958 in Chicago to Charles and Clara Joy (Mott) Niemeyer.  He married Teri Hunt in Herrin on April 7, 1979.  She survives of Marion. John was formerly employed at Fabick Machinery for 20 years.  He was the parts manager for Bost Trucking Company and Thomason Trucking and did maintenance for Home Rentals. John was an active and longtime member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and he considered all of them as family. John enjoyed woodworking and was a craftsman in many other areas.  He missed his true calling as a DJ and Karaoke artist. John shared his love for Cardinal and Wildcat baseball with his family but most of all he enjoyed spending time his family and will be missed by all. Survivors include: Wife-Teri Niemeyer of Marion Son-Christopher and Alicia Niemeyer of Marion Son-Kevin and Taylor Niemeyer of Marion Grandchildren-Chase Niemeyer and Aria Niemeyer Brother-George and Sylvia Niemeyer of Columbus, OH Sister-Theresa and David McDonald of Phoenix, AZ He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 9, 2015 at 10:30am at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Marion with Pastor Marlin Otte and Pastoral Intern Chris Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Friday, January 8, 2015 from 5pm-8pm at the church.
