Julia "Happy" Holmes

Marion-Julia “Happy” Holmes, 94, died at 11:51 am on Feb. 22, 2015 In Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion IL.
Julia was born May 3, 1920, to Henry Estes and Alice Youngblood Newell in Williamson County, Illinois. On February 17, 1940 she was married to Lowell Ray Holmes and they shared 59 years of marriage together. He preceded her in death on September 20, 1999.
They were blessed with 5 children:
Robert R. Holmes Sr, and Best friend Gailene , of Harrisburg, IL., Mrs. Delia Alice (Jean) Hollerson, of Stonefort, IL. William G. (Marsha) Holmes of Marion, IL, Betty J. (John) Parton of Marion, IL and Gary P. (Kim) Holmes, of Creal Springs, IL.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Delia Alice Hollerson on December 20, 2013, and daughter in law Geraldine Holmes on September 6, 2007 and Great Great grandson Michael Robert Holmes
8 Grand Children:
Robert (Joanne) Holmes Jr., Trena (Brent) Black, Mary Ellen (Lenny) Martin, Steven (Debbie) Hollerson, Angela (Jeffrey) Rushing, Chris (Stephanie) Parton, Gary Holmes Jr. and Mary (Bobby) Morris.
20 Great Grand Children:
Rebecca, Amanda, Sophia, Olivia and Colton Robert Holmes.

All of the brothers and sisters are deceased except Charles Newell of Marion.
She attended Mt Pleasant (Poordo) Church as her health would allow.
Happy was a nickname that she got as a child, because she was always Happy.
She loved to quilt, read, and do Word Search books.
She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and close friend to many.
She was very alert up to the very end and wanted all friends and family to
Know that she loved them very much.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. John Parton officiating. Burial will follow at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday evening, Feb. 23, 2015 from 5-8 P.M. at the funeral home.
