Marion-Velma June Craig, 87, passed away at 6:15 PM Tuesday, March 24, 2015 at her home in Marion. Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend James Moore and Reverend Greg Gibbs officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, March 28, 2015 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cana Cemetery in Goreville, Illinois. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court St/ Marion, IL  62959.  Mrs. Craig was born July 4, 1927 in Johnson City, Illinois to James E. and Beulah (Anderson) Short. She married John H. Craig, Jr. on July 28, 1956 who preceded her in death in April of 2007. She worked for General Telephone several years until her marriage. Survivors include niece Cheri (Moore) Dawe of Poplar Bluff, Missouri; nephew James and wife Judy Moore of East Prairie, Missouri; great nephews Jeremy Dawe and wife Carolyn of Poplar Bluff; Jonathon Dawe of Poplar Bluff; Joshua Moore and wife Heather of Windsor, Missouri; Simon Dawe and wife Wendy of Poplar Bluff; great nieces Pilar (Dawe) and husband Marcus Berry of Poplar Bluff; and Janelle Moore of St. Louis, Missouri; great, great nephews Hunter Berry, Liam Moore; great-great nieces Amiah Berry, Molly Berry, Isabelle Berry. Brother-in-law and sister-in-law David R. and wife Linda Craig of Herrin; sister-in-law June Craig of Rockford, Illinois; sister-in-law Virginia Craig of Bluford, Illinois; and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Craig was also preceded in death by her parents, James Everett and Beulah Mae (Anderson) Short; sister Rosalie (Short) Moore; and two infant siblings. June was a member of Heartland Christian Church in Marion. She enjoyed working in the yard with her husband and family members, crafting ceramics, adding to her many collections, and eating out with friends and family.
