Kathy Lea Frey

Marion- Kathy Lea Frey, age 67, of Marion, passed away on Saturday, March 16, 2019 at her home in Marion. Kathy was born in Carbondale on February 3, 1952, the daughter of Robert and Kathleen (Peebels) Meneese. She married Barry Frey in Marion on July 31, 1970. He preceded her in death on October 3, 2010. Mrs. Frey was a member of the Scottsboro Baptist Church in Marion. She had retired from Wal-Mart, where she had worked for more than twenty-seven years.  Kathy enjoyed embroidery and was an avid quilter.  She enjoyed reading, traveling- especially to Amish villages for a look around, and watching her favorite television shows- including the Food Network, Cheaters,  and various court shows. But most of all, Kathy treasured her granddaughter, Lilyanna. She was light of her life. Survivors include two daughters- Melissa Frey of Marion Sara and Robert Rainey of West Frankfort Granddaughter- Lilyanna Rainey of West Frankfort Brother- Jeff and Julie Meneese of Marion Sister- Tammy and Kevin Hill of Marion Several Nieces and Nephews She was preceded in death by her parents. Graveside services will be held at 1:00pm on Monday, March 18, 2019 at Meneese Cemetery with Rev. Mike Hood officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather directly at the cemetery.  Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with final arrangements.
