Marion-Lamoya Montgomery, 91, passed away at 2:49am on Monday, May 1, 2017 at her daughter’s home.
Lamoya was born on July 29, 1925 to Sherman and Leila (Smith) Tanner. She married Glenn Montgomery on November 8, 1942 and they were married 48 years on his death in January 31, 1991.
Lamoya was born in Creal Springs and lived with her grandmother Lula Smith for several years. She attended school in Marion and Goreville. As a young girl, she was baptized in Sugar Creek. In her retirement years she attended First Baptist Church and enjoyed helping in the kitchen. Lamoya loved to read, garden, can produce, fish and watch her children and grandchildren grow. Along with helping her husband in his business, her working career was at Sangamo, Mark Twain Boats and finally retiring from Marion Memorial Hospital in 1986 with 15 years of service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Glenn Montgomery; only sister, Gwendolyn Reid Hancock and two stillborn grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jack Keller; Heartland Hospital staff and nurses and Hospice for their care and support the past month.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 10am at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Phillip Jones officiating. Burial will be at Egyptian Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be on Thursday, May 4, 2017 from 5pm until 8pm at the funeral home.
