Leo Whitehead

April 16, 1934 — December 21, 2018

Marion-Leo Whitehead, 84, passed away on Friday, December 21, 2018 at his home. Leo was born on April 16, 1934 in Spillertown to John Randolph and Sadie (Stroud) Whitehead. He married Virginia (Jack) Whitehead on February 7, 1964 in Marion.  She preceded him in death on May 14, 2013. Leo was a UMWA Coal Miner. He enjoyed coon hunting and was a long time member of Spillertown Baptist Church. Survivors include: Children: Cheryl & Jerry Riepshoff Lee Anne & Barry Steed Leo & DeLynda Whitehead Clint Whitehead Daughter in law-Kim Whitehead Grandchildren: Dustin Whitehead David & Rachel Whitehead Matthew & Jessica McComas Lindsey & James Trice Kami & Eddie Frey Alea & Aaron Gabe Corrina & Ethan Madden Sadie Steed Abby Steed Brocton & Krysten Whitehead Bryson & Haleigh Whitehead Brandi Cross Ashley Cross Lynsey Cross Several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews Sister-Jeanette Newell He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Gayla Marshall; son, Dennis Whitehead; sisters, Lenora Tanner and Loudene McGuire and brothers, Puck Whitehead, Bill Whitehead and Bob Whitehead. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, December 23, 2018 at 2pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Barry Steed officiating. Burial will follow at Salem Cemetery.  Visitation will be on Sunday from 12pm until the time of service at the funeral home. For those who prefer memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at the funeral home.
