Merle Rector

Marion-Lela Merle Rector, 82, passed away surrounded by her family at 9pm on Tuesday, February 21, 2017 at Heartland Regional Medical Center after a long struggle with MS. Merle was born on August 19, 1934 in Marion to Cecil and Della (Holly) Jordan.  She married Orval Rector on March 31, 1951, he survives.  Together they enjoyed nearly 66 years of marriage. Merle was a member of Trinity Pentecostal Church in Marion.  She loved collecting dolls and crocheting. Merle loved spending time with her family.  She was known to many as “Granny.” Survivors include: Husband-Orval Rector of Marion Son-Ronald (Patricia) Rector of Melbourne, FL Daughter-Shirley (Keith) Henson of Marion Grandchildren: Anita (Scott) Hambleton of Carrier Mills Randy Rector of Benton Adam (Kati) Henson of Marion Great grandchildren: Alexandria (Kevin) Kueck Melissa (Cody) Bynum Brandon Hambleton Finn Henson Another great grandchild expected in August Great-great grandchildren: Jacob and Johnathan Kueck Adalyn Bynum Sisters-Brenda Connors and Delores (Mike) Stroud Several nieces, nephews and cousins She was preceded in death by her parents; nine brothers and five sisters Funeral services will be held on Friday, February 24, 2017 at noon at Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Rev. Charlie Idleman officiating.  Burial will follow at Ferrell Cemetery East of Marion.  Visitation will also be on Friday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home. Memorial donations are suggested to the Trinity Pentecostal Church and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N.
