Michael "Mike" Simmons

Goreville-Michael “Mike” Lee Simmons, 56, departed this life at 3:25pm on Friday, August 4, 2017 at his home. Mike was born on March 1, 1961. As a small child, he was adopted by Jesse L. and Clara “Faye” (Johns) Simmons of Marion. The family relocated to Goreville where Mike graduated from Goreville High School with the class of 1980. Early in his life he joined the Community of Christ Church and continued his membership at the church in Tunnel Hill. Mike was an avid fan of the Dallas Cowboys and the Chicago Cubs.  He also enjoyed reading various books and articles. Mike is survived by three sons: Timothy (Davie) Simmons of Roundup, Montana, Gaylon M. Simmons and R.J. Simmons both of Arkansas.  Three grandchildren: Christopher, Alyssa and Annabelle of Roundup, Montana.  He is also survived by a biological sister, Carolyn (Marvin) Howell with whom he shared a special bond.  In addition there are numerous aunts, uncles and cousins that survive. Mike was preceded in death by his parents and step father, J.R. Cox A memorial service will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2017 at 11am at Blue Funeral Home in Goreville with Rev. Ron Null and High Priest Glenn Webb officiating. Visitation will be on Thursday from 10am until the time of service at the funeral home.
