Nellie Crites Lake of Egypt-Nellie Crites, 90, of the Lake of Egypt, passed away at 3:15 AM on Sunday, July 10, 2005 at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, July 13, 2005 at the McKinney Chapel Church in Goreville with Reverend Kenny Blumenstock officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be from 6:00 - 9:00 PM on Tuesday, July 12, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be at McKinney Chapel Cemetery south of Marion. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois; envelopes are available at the funeral home of may be sent c/o Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411, Marion, IL 62959. Mrs. Crites was born on January 15, 1915 in Johnson County, Illinois to Drew and Mary Ethel (James) McCormick. She married Clarence Crites on October 19, 1935 in Williamson County and together they shared over sixty years of marriage. He preceded her in her death on October 8, 1998. Survivors include her children, Stanley and Holly Crites of Herrin, Marlene and Dale Calhoun of Goreville, Violetta Knowles of Marion, Jerry Crites of Marion; eighteen grandchildren, thirty one great grandchildren, eight great great grandchildren; sister, Ella May and Norm Mullinix; half brother Hubert Earl McCormick; half sisters, Vera Lou Benedict, Flodine Shadowens. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers; one sister; infant grandson, John Joseph Knowles.
