Oather "Sonny" Davis

November 5, 1938 — July 31, 2018

Pittsburg-Oather C. (Sonny) Davis, 79, was called to the Kingdom of the Lord on Tuesday, July 31 2018, at Herrin Hospital, after a painful but vigorous battle with cancer. Sonny was born on November 5, 1938 in Pittsburg to Lee and Rilla Davis. He had one sister, Mildred and a brother, Ernie who preceded him in death. Sonny served in the United States Navy crossing the equator twice which he was proud of and proud to have served his country. He is survived by his wife of almost sixty years Mary Lee (Hill) Davis; one daughter, Regina (Mike)Thompson; one son, Steve Davis and daughter in law Sonja; six grandchildren, Kasie (Ryan Schroeder), Kyle (Tara) Tyler, J.R. (Jessica ) Ashley (Levi) Michael Buddy and six great grandchildren, Cheyenne, Kaylin, Parker, Mckenzie, Kolton, Pierson and Delanie. Sonny requested no funeral services and to be cremated. The family will follow his wishes. Blue Funeral Home in Marion is assisting the family with arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/PO Box 411/Marion, IL 62959.
