Marion- Robert Cabble “Bob” English, 83, of Marion, passed away at 10:29 PM, Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis.
Bob was born on December 21, 1933 in Sacramento, KY to Perry and Beulah (Worthington) English. He married Cheryl Tague on May 26, 1984 at Marion Second Baptist Church. She survives of Marion.
He was a US Marine who served his country while working security in Washington DC. Once honorably discharged, he began a brief career with Henkel and McCoy Construction before moving on to CIPS in Marion where he worked as a lineman and highline construction for over 20 years. Once retired, he began a second career working eight years as a delivery driver for Marion Unit #2 Schools.
Bob was a Christian man and longtime member and former deacon of Marion Second Baptist Church. He was also a member of Marion Masonic Lodge AF & AM. He was a clever man with a sarcastic wit who loved his family dearly. He enjoyed spending time outdoors growing vegetables in his garden, driving his John Deere tractor and even turkey hunting in his earlier years. He will be dearly missed by his many family and friends.

Son- Hunter Cole English of Marion

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters, one brother and two son’s in law.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, August 29, 2017 at Marion Second Baptist Church. Rev. Bennie Don Fisher will officiate. Burial will follow at Pleasant Grove Cemetery (East of Marion) with military rites performed at graveside by the Marion VFW and American Legion Posts with assistance from the United States Marine Corp. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Monday, August 28, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Masonic rites will be performed by Fellowship Lodge #89 of Marion at 7:00 PM, Monday at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.
