MARION-Robert E. `Bob` Blue, 74, of Marion, passed away at 9:30 PM, Wednesday, May 25, 2005 surrounded by his family. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM, Sunday, May 29, 2005 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Reverend David Hancock officiating. A eulogy will be given by Marty Manfredo. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Saturday, May 28, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marion. Military rites will be held at the cemetery by VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, the Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or the VFW Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147 Ritual Team. Bob was born on February 28, 1931 in Marion, Illinois to Roe and Madge (Simpson) Blue. He married Connie Jo Blue, she preceded him in death on December 22, 1974, he later married JoNell Pritchett and she survives. Other survivors include son and daughter-in-law, Monte and Jeanie Blue of Marion; daughter, Dr. Martie Blue of Knoxville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Christopher Blue and Kelli Jo Blue; step-son and his wife, Carl and Karen Pritchett of Texas; step-grandchildren, Captain Michael and Alicia Pritchett, and Amy and John Delahunt; and step-great grandchild, Austin Pritchett. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife; one brother; and one step-son. Bob retired from CIPS after 35 years of service. He was a member of Third Baptist Church in Marion. He was a lifetime member of the Marion VFW Post #1301, a member of the Marion American Legion Post #147, Marion Elks #800, IBEW Local 702 and Marion Eagles. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy. He was an active member of the VFW and American Legion Ritual Team. Bob was an avid Chicago Cubs Baseball fan. He loved to play golf and had three hole-in-ones to his credit. But above all he was a devoted Marion Wildcat fan and loved to watch his grandson Chris and his granddaughter, Kelli play ball.
