MARION- Robert Clarance Travelstead, 74, of Marion passed away at 8:45 AM, Saturday, June 12, 2004 at his residence. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, June 16, 2004 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Jimmy Moake and Gary Holmes officiating. Visitation will be from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Tuesday, June 15, 2004 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant `Poordo` Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted by the Marion V.F.W. Post 1301 and American Legion Post 147. Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or may be sent co Blue Funeral Home, PO Box 411 Marion, Il 62959. Mr. Travelstead was born on June 11, 1929 in Harrisburg to Clarance and Iva Travelstead. He married Mary Beggs on March 18, 1951 and she survives. Other survivors include son, Delmar Travelstead of Crab Orchard; daughter, Robin Travelstead of Evansville; grandchildren, Matthew Wall of Crab Orchard, Angela Wall Waltz of Evansville, Dallas Travelstead of Crab Orchard, Johnathan Travelstead of Crab Orchard, Jason Norris of Crab Orchard; great grandchildren, Damian Waltz of Evansville, Taylor Leigh Travelstead of Crab Orchard, Devin Norris of Crab Orchard; sister, Juanita Farthing of Marion; brother, Bill Travelstead of Coos Bay, OR. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Gary Dean Travelstead; sister, Donna Nolan He was a member of Mt. Pleasant (Poordo) Freewill Baptist Church. He retired from the coal mines in 1992. He served his country in the US Army and in the US Navy.
