Ronald Duane Lowery, age 79, of Creal Springs, Illinois, passed away Friday, March 29, 2024 at his home.

Ronald was born April 15, 1944 in Marion, Illinois, a son of Donald and Orpha Mae (Lannom) Lowery. Ronald grew up in rural Williamson County on the family farm. After graduating high school he attended Southern Illinois University and later joined the US Navy where he served in the Mediterranean Sea. Upon returning home he worked on the family farm a short while then moved to Elgin, Illinois and worked at a Manufacturing company. Upon his retirement he returned to Southern Illinois to the family farm. Duane had a passion for photography and art. He had many of his photos of wildlife featured in Illinois Conservation Magazine. He enjoyed traveling in Southern Illinois to collect his wildlife photos. Duane loved Southern Illinois, the people, the wildlife, and the geography. Duane had the gift of "Gab" and loved chatting with his neighbors and helping them when possible.

He is survived by one sister -in-law, Suzanne Lowery of Marion, IL; his niece, Elizabeth A. (Michael) Schmidt of Great Falls, MT, and nephew Josh A. Lowery of Keller, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald E. (Orpha Lannom) Lowery and two siblings, Glenn Lowery and Vera Lowery.

Blue Funeral Home is assisting the family with services.

Celebration of Life services will be held at a later date. Private burial will be held at Bethlehem Cemetery near Tunnel Hill.
