Marion- Sandra Lee “Sandy” Ross, 71, of Marion, passed away at 8:25 PM, Friday, September 22, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Carbondale. Sandy was born on October 21, 1945 in Indianapolis, IN to Harold J. and Velva R. (Fine) Nokes. She married Howard B. Ross on June 19, 1965 in Dover Hill, IN. He preceded her in death on November 9, 2014. Throughout her career, she worked at various places; including Toys R Us, Super 8 Hotel, Williamson County Courthouse and Lowes. She most recently worked at Target prior to her retirement in 2000. Sandy was a Christian woman and a member of Community of Christ in Marion. She was an active member serving as records keeper. She was a giving person and enjoyed volunteering with the Marion Ministerial Alliance, the local soup kitchen and the Lighthouse Shelter. In her spare time she enjoyed spending time outdoors and working jigsaw puzzles. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Survivors include- Daughter- Sharon Pizanowski and husband George of Marion Son- Michael Ross and wife Misty of Marion 3 grandchildren: Todd Pizanowski of Marion Anastasia Ross of Springfield, MO Molly Barclay of Lexington, KY Sister- Dana Haxton of Zephyr Hills, FL Several nieces and nephews She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and 2 brothers- Buster and Donnie Nokes. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, September 28, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Rev. Gordon Rhine will officiate. Burial will follow at Webb Cemetery in Tunnel Hill. Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM, Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Blue Funeral Home in Marion. Memorial donations are suggested to Community of Christ Church in Marion and will be accepted at Blue Funeral Home/ 1704 N. Court/ Marion, IL 62959.
