Shirlen G. Reed, Sr.

CARBONDALE-Shirlen G. Reed, Sr., 69, of Carbondale went home to be with Jesus at 8:57 AM, Friday, May 20, 2005 at Heartland Regional Medical Center, Marion. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM, Monday, May 23, 2005 at the Blue Funeral Home in Marion with Pastor Clyde Dillman and Pastor Mark Minor officiating. Visitation will from 5:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, May 22, 2005 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery, southwest of Marion. Mr. Reed was born on September 4, 1935 in Carterville, Illinois to Verzell and Rachel (Davis) Reed. He married Jaunita Marie Forby on August 19, 1954 and she survives. Other survivors include son, Sherlin Gene Reed, Jr. of Buncombe; daughter and son-in-law, Lora `Lori` and Rick Corn of Benton; grandchildren, Jason Corn, Jerod Corn, Roni Reed, Jr., Joshua Reed, Ricky Corn and Jesse Reed; eleven great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Beatrice Reed; and special brother and best Buddy, Paul Reed of Carbondale. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary Ann Reed; son, Ronal Reed, Sr.; brother, Edward Verzell Reed; and sister, Rachel Louise Reed. Mr. Reed attended the Freeman Chapel Worship Center in Freeman Spur. He retired from Tuck Tape Corporation after 27 years of employment. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
