Virginia, who was known by most as Jenny or Grandma Jenn, was born in Crab Orchard on November 10, 1927 to Earl and Edna (Fry) Gibbons. “GRAND”ma Jenny lived a very “GRAND” life.  The joy was definitely in her journey.  She loved her family and was very proud of each one of them.  Virginia was a loving mother who cherished her children and spent a lot of time in the stands watching their baseball and football games.  She worked many years as a cook for the Marion Unit 2 School System spending most of her time at Washington School before she retired.  Virginia loved to visit with family, shop, go out to eat and get her hair and nails done.  She was a resident of River to River Residential Communities in Marion during her later years. Virginia is survived by one sister, Rosetta Smothers; one brother, Glen Gibbons; her four children, daughter, Dianna (Danny) Travelstead, daughter, Deanna (Ray) Warner, son, Greg (Patti) Powell and son, Randy (Trish) Powell; grandchildren, Stacy, Nikki, Dayna, Darren, Allison and Nik; great grandchildren, Braden, Rylan, Braylan, Grace, Joseph, Olivia, Bailey, Jordan, Dolton and Hayven. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sybil Chamness; four brothers, Bill Gibbons, Bob Gibbons, Leroy Gibbons and Ray Gibbons and one great grandchild, (Brooke) To our dear Mother and Grandma Jenn-Your life as a caterpillar is over, so now it is time for you to spread your wings and fly, beautiful lady! Enjoy the little things in life, for one day you will look back and realize they were the big things.”   -Unknown There will be private graveside services held on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at 10:30am at Odd Fellows Cemetery in Marion.
