William "Bill" Clark

Marion-William H. “Bill” Clark, 96, passed away at home at 8:07am on Tuesday, March 6, 2018. Bill was born on October 22, 1921 in Marion to Jewell and Verna Clark. He married Helen Reach on October 19, 1946.  They celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary this past October. Bill served in the Marines during WWII from 1942-1945. At age 17 he started working at Cline-Vick Drug Store at the soda fountain.  At that time they sold more chicken salad sandwiches than prescriptions.  Bill was a pharmacist.  He worked at Cline-Vick, Campbell Drug and Marion Medical Pharmacy.  Bill also worked part time at Natural Med Apothecary in Herrin for Erik Cornett, now owner of Core Pharmacy in Marion.  Bill worked until he was 95. Survivors include his wife, Helen; their daughter, Marsha (Jack) McCormick; three grandchildren, Matthew (Dallas) Vaughn, Courtney (Colton) Childers and Luke McCormick; four great grandchildren, Ryleigh and Mia Vaughn and Addison and Holden Childers. Bill’s fifth great grandchild, a boy, is due in July.  Also surviving are his sister, Lois (Harold) Bell; sister in law, Alice Reach and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Louise Clark and three brothers, Robert, Jack and Ray Clark. Bill was of Baptist Faith. He enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and playing golf.  He also enjoyed watching his grandchildren, Courtney and Luke, play sports and keeping Matt busy with home repair. Bill will be greatly missed. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at 10am at Rose Hill Cemetery with Rev. Paul Lee officiating. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 9, 2018 from 5pm-8pm at Blue Funeral Home in Marion.

My condolences to Bill's Family. He was one of the nicest people. I worked for a year with him at Campbell's Rexall and was impressed with the non-judgmental way he interacted with all of us, his forthright but quiet manner, and his integrity & ethics. I was one of the four pharmacy techs & I'm surprised we didn't drive him crazy. I wish you all Blessings & Peace.
